Got questions? I’ve got answers!

Whether you’re returning to therapy or considering it for the first time, it’s important to know that therapy is a unique experience and should be tailored to each person or couple’s individual needs. No two therapists are the same, and it is completely normal to “shop around” to find the perfect fit for you! Take a look at some commonly asked questions to get a better idea of what you can expect from therapy with me and hopefully make your search for a therapist a little bit easier. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out by email or booking a free consultation!

  • Therapy is for anyone who wants to grow, heal, or gain a deeper understanding of themselves. It’s also perfectly okay to seek therapy even if you don’t have a specific issue in mind, maybe you feel a general sense of discomfort or desire for change. If you’re unsure, I encourage you to reach out for an initial consultation. Together, we can explore your unique needs and discuss how therapy might help you move toward the life and well-being you’re hoping for.

  • I understand that starting therapy can feel both exciting and nerve-wrecking, that’s completely normal! In our first session, I want you to feel comfortable, heard, and supported. We’ll spend time talking about what brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping to achieve. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your background, current concerns, and your goals for therapy. This is a collaborative process! You can expect a warm, non judgemental environment where you can express yourself openly. Our first session together is simply about starting the conversation and creating a safe space.

  • I work with individuals and couples facing a wide variety of challenges. Common issues I help with include anxiety (excessive worrying, overthinking, ruminating), persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness, relationship difficulties such as jealousy, trust issues, and reoccurring arguments, burnout, low self- esteem, grief and loss. Whether you’re facing challenges in your relationships, grieving a loss, feeling trapped by your thoughts, or just seeking support in managing life’s pressures, I’m here to support you.

  • Generally, clients may feel ready to end therapy when they notice significant improvement in the issues that brought them to therapy. Throughout therapy, we regularly assess your progress, discuss your goals, and revisit your needs. When you feel that you’ve achieved the changes you were seeking and no longer need ongoing support, it may be time to consider wrapping up therapy. However, it is also completely normal to return to therapy if new challenges arise or if you feel that additional support is needed. Ultimately, the decision is yours, and I am here to help guide you through that process.

  • I do not accept insurance, however, I can provide a Superbill (receipt of services) for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. I also work with Reimbursify, an online platform that helps you easily check your out-of-network cost estimates and submit a claim to your insurance company.

  • I ask that you cancel 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment. A fee will be charged for a “no-show” or a cancellation that was made with less than 24 hours notice, however, I do offer some flexibility in emergency circumstances. Life happens! I review these policies in detail during the initial intake appointment.
